This route is photographed at sunrise only. At sunrise the bridge is empty and the colonnade is quiet; an hour later neither is true. Sunrise moves by more than two hours between June and December, so your start time follows the real sun on your date.

Because by mid-morning the bridge and Via della Conciliazione are full, and St Peter’s Square fills with queues. At sunrise the whole route is quiet — that is the point of coming.

On Ponte Sant’Angelo, at the castle end. I send the exact spot with your confirmed start time.
Do we go inside St Peter’s or the castle?
No. The session is outside — the bridge, the river and the colonnade. No tickets, no queues.
